Lithology and Thickness

Shurfa Fm LITHOLOGY= Members: 1. Ammur, or Operculina limestone, which is composed of cavernous dolomitic limestone rich in near-shore large foramanifera. 2. Qaltah (Formerly Gelta or Guelta) chalk, which is comprised of blocky soft chalk, deposited in shallow marine environment. Macrofossils uncommon. 3. Abu Ra (Formerly Bu Ras) marl, well-bedded platy marlstones and chalky limestones which are brecciated and conglomeratic. CALIBRATION = Base of Danian.
